Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries

Better known as GWIM, they are an equal opportunity faith based organization that calls people of faith together to serve the poor and disadvantaged people living in the Greater Waterbury Communities.

  • GWIM serves through the programs that they run. These programs are the Soup Kitchen, Food Bank, Emergency Fuel Fund, and Toy Sale.
  • The Soup Kitchen provides more than just food. It offers guidance in assisting families with finding apartments, providing baby formula, blankets and their first outfit for going home.
  • Six days a week we provide a nutritious meal to those in need. Located at St. John's Church in Waterbury.
  • The Food Pantry provides emergency food for families in need. You can get food for whatever your family size for 3 days. You can visit the Food Pantry once a month. Located at the office site on Crown Street, the Food Pantry is staffed by its faith comminity. They are open Monday - Friday 10:00am - 12:00 noon.
  • The Emergency Fuel Fund is for those people who seem to fall between the cracks. It is for people whose income does not qualify for Operation Fuel, but cannot meet their utility expences. If you are in danger of having your utilities turned off the Emergency Fuel Fund is there to help.
  • The annual Toy Sale is held every year in December to assist those who can use it at Christmas time. The program allows you to come in, with an invitation, and purchase toys at 10% of their retail cost. The toys are purchased from a wholesaler and are donated from all our member churches.
